Since 1999, The Actors Conservatory Theatre has inspired children across North Texas to grow in their love of the performing arts, all while consistently providing audiences with high-quality, community-based children's theatre. Through many seasons, our mission has always remained the same: To foster the education of great classic literature for the young and young at heart, through a dedication to outstanding, all-inclusive, family-oriented theatre, right here in our own community.

Welcome to The ACT!

Monkey, Monkey - The Marvelous Adventures of the Magical Monkey King

This tale, adapted by Charles Jones from the novel Monkey by Wu Ch'eng-en, shows what can happen when one gets too big for one's breeches! Monkey is "born" from a magic stone placed on a hillside by the Jade Emperor, Ruler of Earth and Sky. A brave and daring creature, Monkey soon earns the title Handsome Monkey King when he fearlessly breaks through the falling water and returns to tell of a lush land for his monkey colony to claim.      Students in this laboratory-style play class will use this creative script to learn about all aspects of putting together a show. They will take on every role, both on-stage and off, learning acting, voice, articulation, movement, and stage presence, all in the context of learning lines, playing roles, and preparing costumes, props, and sets for performance. The last class will end in a show for friends and family!
