Call It! Stage Management for Teens
Behind The Scenes Series
Class: Wednesdays, 5:00 PM-6:15 PM*
*Call It! Stage Management for Teens will meet on Wednesdays during the semester for five sessions, except when there is a mainstage production rehearsal at The ACT.
There will be no class on October 4 or October 11 so that all students may be available for James and the Giant Peach Jr. rehearsal. There is a possibility that students will have a project during James and the Giant Peach Jr. or later in the semester for other productions.
Interested in "behind-the-scenes" work at the theatre?
Stage management is the practice of organizing and coordinating a theatrical production. It is the critical, but invisible (hopefully) glue that brings every well-produced show together! Come to this hands-on class designed exclusively for teens to learn how stage managers work with actors, directors, technical directors, set designers, and costume designers to effectively bring all of the elements of a show together for performance. Learn terminology and develop your own personal style as you break down a script, arrange and manage your backstage area, spike a stage, direct curtain opening/closings, speak on a headset, communicate with different departments, and direct actors and other backstage helpers. When you are done, you will be ready to make the on-stage magic happen!
