Behind the Scenes Theatre Arts Practicum: Sewing
Behind The Scenes Series
Taught by Lesa Bledsoe
Ages 10 - Adult
Class: Mondays, 1:00 PM-2:30 PM*
*Behind the Scenes Theatre Arts Practicum in Sewing will meet in the daytime on Mondays during the semester for five sessions. It is scheduled so that homeschooled students ages 10 and older may also take morning theatre classes on the same day! Adults welcome too!
There is a possibility that students will be able to complete an optional sewing project during the production of Nutcracker.
If you want to make costumes, then you need to know how to sew!
In this hands-on class, we’ll keep it casual and fun (but also safe and attentive). We’ll start with the basics – learning your machine, basic ironing techniques used in sewing, safety rules, how to read a pattern, choosing the material and other sewing notions, and cutting out. We will also cover basic hand-sewing skills.
Our first project will use straight stitching and should be finished in just a few class sessions. As time permits, students will choose a second project and work at their own pace. The projects will be enjoyed by boys, girls, men, and women! Everyone is welcome! If you have the desire, it’s never too late to learn.
Homework not required, but you may not be able to resist!
**Please bring all supplies to first class**
