The classic Hans Christian Andersen tale of The Ugly Duckling , first published in Denmark in 1843, comes to life on stage in this story of personal transformation. Ugly, hatched from a curious-looking, large brown egg that is unlike the other four eggs in the nest, looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm, including his own father, Drake, are quick to notice and make fun of Ugly, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and ultimately finds out that being different is not a bad thing after all.             Book by Anthony Drewe. New Songs and Additional Music by George Stiles. Lyrics by Anthony Drewe. Based on The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen. Honk Jr.   is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
