  • With movement at the heart of musical theatre, this beginning dance class will focus on younger students and the foundations of proper dance technique such as basic steps, isolations of the body, flexibility, and developing recognition of simple rhythms and patterns. Exercises will focus on building coordination, stretching, and speed of movement and an emphasis will be placed on learning dance vocabulary, all while getting exercise and having fun!

    This class is designed to be paired with The Cheese Stands Alone at 5:30 PM. While this is optional, students enrolled in both classes will have an opportunity to apply their new dance and movements skills in musical theatre class.

  • Step into the whimsical world of the farmer's dell, where an adventure in friendship awaits in "The Cheese Stands Alone." Cheesy, our endearing protagonist, yearns to bridge the gap with the enigmatic Mister Rat, whose mysterious intentions keep everyone guessing. As Cheesy grapples with the blues, a surprise visit from the "Cheeses of the World" - Gouda, Limburger, and a lively bunch - takes center stage, bringing laughter, joy, and a profound lesson in the true essence of friendship and self-belief.

    Lower Elementary students in this classroom-based musical play will use this creative script to enjoy learning about nature and the theatre while they are on stage. Acting skills will be emphasized throughout the semester and all students will have opportunities to shine. The semester will end in a showcase for friends and family!

  • Once upon a time... Talking frogs? A falling sky? A town full of confused folk? What is really happening and who can answer these questions? The librarian? The coach? The Mayor and town council? The sweet and smart-thinking Rachel?

    With song, dance, and a fast-moving script, Thwacked! unfolds to reveal these and many other delightful characters as they attempt to unravel the mystery in a fairytale world. Upper Elementary and Middle School students will all have opportunities to shine on stage, with amusing dialogue, charming songs, and a clever story. The semester will end in a free showcase production for friends and family.

  • Calling all superheroes!  The citizens of Nova City need a patron superhero to save them from the evil clutches of the nefarious Colonel Mustard and his sidekick, Hemlock. So what do they do? They hold an audition, of course! Legions of fantastic, incredible, and uncanny characters descend upon City Hall hoping the mayor and police commissioner might marvel at their strange powers, which range from super strength to super speed, from mind-reading to animal-whispering, from quoting Shakespeare to pointing out irony.  (Okay, so some superpowers are more helpful than others). But when Colonel Mustard unleashes a surprise attack on City Hall, both the mighty AND the average must join together to bring justice and security to Nova City.

    Upper Elementary and Middle School students in this classroom-based play will use this creative script to learn all about theatre, in the context of a preparing a staged performance of this hilarious and fast-paced play. Acting skills will be emphasized throughout the semester and all students will have opportunities to shine on stage. The semester will end in a free showcase production for friends and family.

  • What musical theatre production isn’t made spectacular with the performance of a truly great production number? With this in mind, the basic elements of jazz dance will be taught to our after school students with the aim of developing confidence in terminology and execution of the most frequently used dance steps.

    With movement also at the heart of musical theatre dance, jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality, and developing rhythm, style, and musicality. Traditional ballet barre exercises will also be incorporated to build strength and increased range of motion in the feet and ankles, balance, control, and speed of movement. And while the students are working their bodies, they will be getting exercise and having fun!

  • From beginner basics to intermediate skill levels, this "tap only" class will focus on technique, articulation, speed, musicality, and building your tap vocabulary. Students will receive one-on-one correction as they extend and reinforce steps they have learned and create a variety of a capella rhythms to present at the showcase. Strongly recommended for students wanting to broaden their musical theater tool box for and for those who need to sharpen their tap skill set. Previous students are encouraged to return, as tap is a learned skill that requires continuous practice!

  • If you can chaînés, piqué, and grand jeté your way across the floor, then you're probably ready for what's NEXT! With proper technique, strength building, and increased flexibility as the central focus of the class, intermediate and advanced dancers will combine steps into more intricate progressions and elevate the speed of execution, musicality, and difficulty of the steps already in their repertoire. 


    This class will continue to focus on learning proper dance technique and developing core strength through traditional Horton and Graham warmups, improving performance quality, and developing style, texture, power, and control behind their movement.

We are currently developing a workshop format for our Triple Threat program this fall, due to the addition of a third main stage show to our fall calendar. We are encouraging all teens to enroll in Jazz Technique (Level 1 or Advanced) and Just Tap classes, to prepare for our upcoming full-length main stage shows and for Triple Threat level placements in Spring 2025.

The Distracted Scholar’s Guide to Literature & Drama

  • Short attention span? This play offers to teach the audience everything they'd ever need to know about the major movements and works in Western literature and drama. Well...kind of. The audience is given a comic "fast-forward" tour of authors, playwrights, and poets including the likes of Sophocles, Dante, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Jane Austen. Major movements in literary and dramatic history, like the Enlightenment and Romanticism, are taught as the actors portray a hilarious "mash-up" between Frankenstein and Pride and Prejudice, as well as other unlikely pairings and synopses. The play is replete with ghosts, villains, and common plot devices, and burns through the other major periods in literary history culminating in a fast-paced handling of movies and "The Great Summer Blockbuster!" A lesson in literature and drama was never so fun!

    Middle and High School students in this play will use this creative script to learn all about theatre, in the context of a preparing a staged performance and learning about “greats” of literature and drama. Acting and script analysis skills will be emphasized throughout the semester and all students will have opportunities to shine on stage. Students will also engage in projects that emphasize directing and producing skills. The semester will end in a free showcase production for friends and family.

  • The Circus has a colorful parade, high-flying trapeze artists, delightful animals, and hilarious clowns that make everyone feel happy! This play takes children to a Circus via Mr. Rhythm’s magic train. During the performance, children march in a circus parade, sing, and create funny animal acts. There are even roles for silly clowns to provide the finishing touch to the circus performance!

    Easy for young children to learn and perform, with simple songs and lines, preschool and kindergarten students in this classroom-based musical will use this creative script and accompanying songs to enjoy this classic story and learn all about being on stage! Crafts and games will spark their imaginations as young students discuss the story and become their characters. The semester will end in a showcase for friends and family!

  • Kitty Cat Capers is a fun mini-musical that showcases the mischievous, zany, and lovable behaviors associated with our endearing feline friends. The pick-of-the-litter cast, including Copy Cat, Alley Cat, Cool Cats and Cuddly Cats, feeds us a treat of mewsical talent through their wild and wacky kitty capers. Miss Tabitha, a teacher at the “Purrrfect Paws and Claws Finishing School,” sets out to encourage audience members to adopt her playful and scampering students that wiggle their whiskers and shake their tails.

    Lower Elementary students in this classroom-based musical play will use this creative script to enjoy learning about nature and the theatre while they are on stage. Flying through the major points of America’s quest for independence, this fast-and-loose comedy plays like a highlight reel of history in hilarious fashion! Your audience will both laugh and learn as they watch patriots such as George Washington, Paul Revere, Samuel and John Adams, Patrick Henry, and Benjamin Franklin battle the vain King George III and his British soldiers.

    From the Boston Tea Party to the Battle of Bunker Hill (Did you know it was really Breed Hill?!) to the crossing of the Delaware and onward to the British surrender at Yorktown, the historical meets the hysterical in this fast-paced, one act delight!

     Upper Elementary and Middle School students in this play will use this script to learn all about theatre, in the context of a preparing a staged performance.
